With busy schedules only getting busier, and stress increasing with each to-do on your list, your mental health can be wearing down. When stress rises, your physical health starts to falter, and your gut health begins to take a turn for the worst.

There’s a lot of information out there about the gut-brain connection and even Harvard took their take on it. Even if you’re conscious about what you eat, your stress could be wrecking more havoc than you know.

I’ve always had a strong gut-brain connection and really didn’t start focusing on helping it until the last few years.

Whenever I get stressed or just bottle up something, my entire digestive tract becomes unruly.

Before I knew the cause, the things that I ate became a Tetris-puzzle of what caused what symptom and what should I avoid. All this time, it was just me making myself sick.

Along with better stress management through self-care and yin-yoga, I started to work on my diet and add in food that helped to keep my physical-health just as balanced.

In today’s article, there are 5 of the top detox foods to add into your diet. These detox foods help with not only a not-so-healthy binge, but also calm the acids and digestive additives that come along with stress.

Parsley

Parsley is not only an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, but it’s high-dose of Vitamin K gives the fuel to promote some intense healing. Whether it’s stressed out or stretched out, parsley is something to add to almost any meal.

There are a lot of smoothie and shake recipes out there, but I’m a bit timid to try these out. If you’ve tried them out before, let me know how they were in the comments!

Garlic

Garlic, oh, garlic!

Even before I knew garlic was a top detox food, I absolutely loved adding this into every dish I possibly could.

Garlic is another food that has reparative properties that help with inflammation and even colds. If your gut health is wavering or needs some help, sprinkle in a few cloves of garlic to your next meal!

Lemon is my go-to for any type of stomach or digestive problems. In tea or even just hot water, lemon can help soothe your stomach and even help promote hydration.

As a top detox food, lemon can be added in pretty much anything! Even just a simple lunch or a dinner side, lemon’s detox properties are easy to sneak in your everyday!

If you’re looking for an easier way to manage these fresh ingredients in your home, my life changed when I got Amazon Pantry.

This was what helped me to really not worry about what’s in my cupboards and what I was going to eat. It gave me the piece of mind to know that all I had to do was walk out onto my porch and the food inside was easy and healthy. Definitely a must have for fresh food without the stress of running around town.
