Think of it this way: that awkward-feeling, unknown first step is what’s between now and the life you want.

At the end of this article, I have one of the best workbooks to start you off. Best of all? It’s completely free!
Let’s get started!
Self-Care During Change
For the first step, you don’t have to be so grit-your-teeth-uncomfortable.
Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in jumping straight into the hard stuff, that we forget about being kind to ourselves during transition.
We’ve been so hard-wired to push, push, push, yet we end up burning ourselves out because of it. This dragging-feeling leads us to sputter out and end up doubting ourselves. Like we’ve made a huge mistake in even starting this journey.
Or even worse, we give up, or just completely stop everything to go back to those old habits and routines.
It’s so important to think about yourself during any type of change. How will you respond? Is it reasonable to set the goals that you’re setting for yourself? Do you need support from others?
Defining a uniquely you, personalized execution of steps one, two, three, and so on will get you to that goal quicker.
And without a huge, uncomfortable shift when you're changing your routine.
This type of self-care comes from working with yourself and acknowledging your thoughts, feelings, and actions. If you’re not a morning person, don’t schedule huge important tasks in the mornings. If you work better with another person checking up on you, find an accountability partner.
Knowing these unique characteristics about yourself will help you develop a routine to promote positive change.
Educating yourself on yourself is so important and it is so crucial to self-care during transition. When you’re not aware of how you respond, learn, or accept things, you begin to do things that can cause unnecessary hardship and discomfort.
If you don’t know what’s good or bad for you, it makes your change in routine or habits even more rocky.

Planning a Crystal-Clear Path
Along with burn out and discouragement, that unknown factor plays a huge part in change not taking place.
When you just head for the horizon without looking down, you start to misstep on the hurdles in your path.
Along with defining what makes you who you are, knowing a clear path between now and your end-goal is just as important as taking care of yourself along the way.
Planning a path does not mean planning a rigid step-by-step guide on how to get there with no room for oops, stumbles, and life.
Because let’s face it, life always pokes its nose in, no matter how successful you are.
Planning a path means writing down how you can get to your goal.
Does it mean evolving your routine to include extra work, or maybe adding more self-care time to help get you to that next level.
The possibilities are endless but again, it goes back to knowing how you work and function. How you’re uniquely you.
