The Must Read Self Esteem Books for 2019
In this article, we’re going over the ultimate must read self esteem books that are going to transform your self acceptance & self love! You’ll get the most inclusive list of books for self esteem and self love that are going give you the motivation to build your confidence, begin practicing self love, and easy resources on how to improve self esteem.
This most requested article is all about giving you those self acceptance resources that you can use to implement in any schedule and into any lifestyle. These books are apart of my personal library and ones that I reference back to time and time again for my own self love practice.
These self esteem books are some of my most frequented reads, and can be used over and over again to reference and learn from. There have been times where I find myself diving into one of these a week later and learning another perspective about a topic.
Self acceptance is such a vast topic and something that is so vast can seem really complicated to make personalized. Because if self love isn’t personalized, it’s just another task on the to-do list that doesn’t really do what it’s supposed to do, right?
These self esteem books cover a lot of topics but really focus on the holistic view of self love which is: doing what makes you feel good and learn to love yourself unconditionally. Keeping your goal that simple will make your journey with self acceptance seem less vast when you have that solid, simple goal in mind.

I'll admit it. This has been on my reading list for a while and I just now got around to picking it up. Man, oh man. I wish I had this two years ago! This book nestled itself into my top 10. Written in a warm and vulnerable style, this collection of essays focuses on the most important transformation in her life: leaving behind busyness and frantic living and rediscovering the person you were made to be. This book is a hand reaching out, pulling you free from the constant pressure to perform faster, push harder, and produce more, all while maintaining an exhausting image of perfection.
This was another book that I just passed by so many times… When I finally read The Gifts of Imperfection, I could feel the love that Brené poured into her research. This is far beyond an average self-help book, this book is filled with heart and encouragement for your journey towards rebuilding self-esteem and your personal development. With honesty and encouragement, this book helps you explore the psychology of releasing our definitions of an “imperfect” life and how to start embracing living authentically. This is such a magnificent read for truly uplifting yourself towards unconditional self-acceptance in such a real way that’s genuine, and personalized.
This is such a fantastic, helpful workbook for building your self esteem! Not only does it allow you to become aware of your own unique needs and goals but it helps you to learn how to better accept and love your true self. This book feels like you're chatting with a friend over coffee. I absolutely love the real-life aspect of what Alexandra tells her story and explains her formula about enjoying and loving every day, "boring" life. As a mother of four, Alexandra wiped her calendar free and focused on one aspect of her life each month, searching for ways to more fully enjoy her current season. By intentionally adding one thing each month that gave her joy, she gives a practical solution to those looking to add joy into a schedule already bursting at the seams.
As with The Self-Love Experiment, Beautiful You is a fantastic companion to one another. This all-inclusive guide by Rosie gives practical techniques into a 365-day action plan that empowers women to regain a healthy self-image, shore up self-confidence, reframe and break undermining habits of self-criticism, and champion their own emotional and physical wellbeing.

If I could recommend just one book to someone struggling with self esteem, it would be this book by Vironika Tugaleva. The Art of Talking to Yourself is written with such courage, strength, and candor that your journey towards better self acceptance will be more of a gentle introduction to a deeper understanding of who you are with Vironika’s book. She guides us through self love and self trust to help us awake a deeper awareness of ourselves and connects us on a profound, universal level. In this guide, Mary Beth Janssen profiles a wide range of activities and exercises. I really liked her take on how to deal with unprocessed emotions that have gotten stuck. She talks a lot about boundaries and really just building a sustainable life where emotions can come and go without ripping and erupting out into other aspects of your life.
This book was so inspirational, and I found myself not being able to put it down!! The way that Rachel goes into almost an intimate discussion about what truly matters feels more like a conversation than someone barking what's right, what's wrong at you.
Her book leads you to hope, challenge, and inspiration, melted together into a beautiful book based around the four seasons. From finding daily surrender in the autumn and daily hope in the winter, to daily bloom and daily spark in the spring and summer, you will find powerful, positive words for your day.
Writing with great warmth and clarity, Dr. Brach expresses her teachings alive through personal stories and case histories, fresh interpretations of Buddhist tales, and guided meditations. Step by step, she leads us to trust our innate goodness, showing how we can develop the balance of clear-sightedness and compassion that is the essence of Radical Acceptance.
Garnishing her gentle advice and guided meditation with beautiful bits of poetry and well-loved if familiar dharma stories, Dr. Brach describes what it can mean to open to the reality of other people, to live in love, to belong to the world.
Radical Acceptance is one of those books that I wish I had a very long time ago. From real solutions to true insights from others, this one will help you truly uplift and up-level your self-love practice.
Easier Reading & Book Management
If you’re an avid reader like I am, having a book collection can get a bit out of hand quickly with physical books.
Over the past two years, I’ve been transitioning to reading just eBooks and digital books. It was tough at first, but I found that Kindle has made this transition really easy. Not only do you get access to every book under the sun, but it’s completely free and you don’t even need to have an actual Kindle to get the app!
Not only do they have every book under the sun, but they also have an amazing unlimited plan* where you can read everything under the sun. Getting their unlimited plan was a huge game changer for me and my reading.
Now I can fit reading into almost any downtime, regardless of where I am, which vastly improved how I felt about myself. I love reading, so being able to access all of my favorite stories and authors wherever and whenever was such a huge boost.
